Designing the lot’s “hydro grid” was a learning curve for both of us…. pole placement, underground wires, meter placement - this project was more challenging than we had both anticipated! Eventually, we landed on a design that we were all happy with (us, Hydro and our electrician). On March 17th we arrived at the lot to see that Manitoba Hydro had come by to stake out the pole locations.

Eight days later, I was driving by with the kids and noticed that the stakes were gone. “What? I wonder why the stakes were removed?” I asked, a little panicked. “Maman, look closer, the poles are there!!” replied the boys. I had not even noticed the poles because I was looking for those stakes. A perfect reminder for me to sometimes widen my focus a little in order to see the forest for the trees.
