Last week I pulled out one of my old cookbooks to make a batch of crabapple jelly. Canning and making preserves used to be a regular part of my summer. It had been over 2 years since I’ve made any sort of preserve or done any form of canning. It felt great to be packing up a locally grown flavor that we could enjoy throughout the winter months.

I was delighted to find the note below in my cookbook. Leta was the previous owner of our old Sanford property. She lived to be in her nineties and was still madly in love with her husband. Words to live by from a wise woman….
